Alice Walker the Pulitzer Prize winning author who wrote “The Color Purple.” is heading to the Gaza Strip to highlight the devastation the Israeli offensive had on it’s residents. Problem is when you have terrorists living among the population this is going to happen when you try to eliminate them. Unfortunately there are no innocent sides to a war. Only pain and misery.

Glad to see Phish is back together again. They performed at the Hampton Theater in Vermont. They were an inovative band back in a day. From what I read the concert went well. It music playing was crisp an the Phish crowd was into it. I hope that they stay together and make an impact on the music world.

The top 13 American Idol finalists will be doing Michael Jackson songs this season. The show’s producers sya that the “Gloved One” will not be performing on the show this season. But hey, you never know stranger things have happened. And with the “Gloved one” strange never seems to be far away.

Dakota fanning landed a “New Moon” role. She will be playing a young vampire named Jane. The movie is set to be released in Nov 2009. Well that is it for now, may you have a wonderful day!

It looks like Robin Williams will be under going heart surgery. To be exact he needs an aortic valve replacement. The same type of procedure that former First Lady Barbara Bush had. Mr. Williams had been experiencing shortness of breath which according to The Society of Throracic Surgeons is a symptom of this kind of heat disorder. I do wish Mr. Williams all the best when he under goes the surgery.

Well it looks like Rihanna will testify against Chris Brown according to her lawyer Donald Etra. “At this point, she is willing to do anything that the law requires her to do. … If subpoenaed, she will testify.” Mr. Etra said. Mr. Etra when asked about the status of their relationship he declined to give any details.

 

Now according to the Mtv.com article police may not need Rihanna to testify if Mr. Brown agrees to a plea deal. And so the story goes on. Let’s see what happens. If anyone has any comments about this please feel free to express yourself. Well that is it for now and may your day be wonderful!

Entertainment news post 3/05/09

Well we now have the top 13 finalists for American Idol. Jasmine Murray, Matt Giraud, Megan Corkey and Anoop Desai rounded it off. Tatiana Del Toro got real emotional after finding out that she was not picked. She feel to her knees and pleaded with the judges. All for naught though. Ryan Seacrest came on stage and said that she did not have to get up off her knees. Kara Dioguardi kept on repeating “Family Show, Family show.” throughout the awkward moment.

The other finalists are Danny Gokey, Alexis Grace, Allison Iraheta, Adam Lambert, Scott MacIntyre, Jorge Nunez, Lil Rounds and Michael Sarver. So this is the first time that there will be a top 13. Cool. Next week Original American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson will perform. That should be quite good!

In other news Warner Bros studios is hoping that “The Watchmen” will have a big starting weekend. something on par of 60 million dollar gross. I know one thing for sure is that I will be seeing the movie this weekend. And I will give my review shortly thereafter. So we will see what happens!

First of all I was very sadden to see that Paul Harvey had passed away today. He was 90 years old. He was a news commentator and a talk radio pioneer whose style endeared him to millions of people. I offer my sympathies to his family. He was a great communicator and a great man. Truly one of a kind. That type of personality will be impossible to replace. He will be sorely missed.

It looks like Rihanna and Chris Brown maybe trying to work out their issues. They have been holed up in P. Diddy’s Miami Beach mansion for the past couple of days. I am hoping that they can work things out for the better. If it is true and I say once again if it is ture that Chris does have anger issues then it is indeed my hope that he seeks proper counseling to resolves those issues. In any case I wish them both good luck.

New entertainment news post 2/27 2009

I got this from yahoo entertainment. Ed McMahon former Johnny Carson kick was hospitalized today with pneumonia. Hospital spokesman Howard Bragman said it was serious noting his age, but that they were hopeful on a full recovery. It is my sincere hope that Mr. McMahon will recover soon.

Jennifer Hudson said on the Oprah Winfrey show that getting back to work and performing is great therapy for her. “I’m just glad to be back and be back to work again. Just doing what I love to do is like therapy,”  she lamented on the show. I for one am glad to see her back performing again. She is a great a great performer and I hope that she will do well in the future.

And it looks like New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and Brazilian Supermodel Gisele Bundchen got married over the past few days.  I hope that their marriage will be a long and happy one. Good going guys!

And hear is another bit of news Director Ang Lee who won a Best Directing Oscar for “Brokeback Mountain” in 2005 will head the jury at the 2009 Venice Film Festival. He has also won the prestigous Venice Film Festival award “The Golden Lion” in 2007. By the way here is a link to Mr. Lee’s upcoming movie Taking Woodstock.

Eartha Kitt “Santa’s Baby” passed away yesterday.

She was a great singer whose sensuality attacted fans into 80’s.  She was 81. She will be sorely missed.

Paris Hilton home broken into

by a hooded man about 5 am. So the police report said. Fortunately the heiress was not home at the time of the break in. Evidently about 2 million dollars worth of jewelry and other valuable items were stolen. Here is the link.

Majel Roddenberry “The First Lady of Star Trek”

passed away yesterday…She was 76.

 

She played many roles in the Star Trek universe ranging from Nurse Chapel in the original series to Loxanna Troi. She also was the computer voice in the Next Generation and other Star Trek series like Deep Space Nine, Voyager and movies which also includes J.J Abrams Star Movie due out in May 2009. A public memorial is expected some time after Christmas… She will be sorely missed by many Star Trek fans. Me included.

‘Apopcalypse Now’ Actor Sam Bottoms passed away

today…He was 53 years old.
