Superman Returns soars to $52 million dollars.

July 3, 2006

And while that was a respectable outing it fell well short of Spiderman 2’s $88.1 million dollars in 2004. Speaking of the web crawler, there was a nice Spiderman 3 trailer before Superman started and it does look good. I had the chance to go see Superman Returns and thought it quite good myself. The directing (Bryan Singer) was very good. Brandon Routh, Kevin Spacey and Kate Bosworth were all good in their respective roles as Superman, Lex Luthor and Lois Lane. There is also a bit of a surprise in the movie but I will not reveal it here.

Also going beyond Fox executives expectations was the “The Devil Wears Prada” starring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway. Streep plays a formidable high fashion magazine editor and Hathaway plays the naive assistant. It looks to be a good movie too and who knows I may go see it. Then of course I may go see Superman Returns again. There are quite a few good movies out there, so I hope that I will get in some more movie viewing in next weekend.

Now other movies like the Adam Sandler’s film “Click” fell to 3rd with $19.4 million and “Cars” came in 4th with about $14 million. Here is the Top Ten so far for the week! The source inspiration and material for this blog post comes from Bridget Bryne, reporter for E! Online.
