Now we await Superman’s Return!
With the Hollywood premiere history, the reviews are in. Now all that Superman will need to do is fly into history. Hopefully box office history. Superman Returns will open in 3900 screens across America. There will be some late night showings Tuesday in some cities. The film stars, Brandon Routh as Superman, Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane and Kevin Spacey as the villanous Lex Luthor. Bryan Singer is the Director.
It could very well be that Wednesday is going to be absolutely out of control. Now the biggest opening day was set last year by Star Wars: Episode III The Revenge of the Sith. That occured on a Thursday and took in 50 million dollars. Spider-Man 2 holds the distinction of being the all-time biggest Wednesday opener, snaring $40.4 million on a late June day in 2004.
The question is will Superman Returns break 89.5 million dollars in it's opening debut. It would seem that BoxOfficeMojo.com's Brandon Gray is going to go with it not doing so because of the fact that there are 2 full days before the weekend comes and the 4th of July may have some impact with people going to barbecues rather than the movie theaters.
Mr Gray does think it will do very though. Well Warner Bros. is betting 200 million dollars that the film will do well. After putting up that kind of budget money, and trying so hard to get the Superman franchise back on the movie screens, yeah they are hoping that the film will do well. So far it would seem that the critics are pleased. Lets see if the fans will be pleased as well! The source material for this post came from Joal Ryan of E! Online.
