American Idol Taylor Hicks is going to
debut at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart with his very soulful rendition of "Do I Make You Proud". Taylor sold 190,000 physical copies and another 38,000 digital downloads of the song. This is according to Nielson SoundScan.
Now in the past 3 of 4 Idol winners made their debut at the top. Starting with last years winner Carrie Underwood and her song "Inside Your Heaven". That single sold a combined 169,000 units during the first week of its run. Other songs were Fantasia's "I Believe" and Kelly Clarkson's "A Moment Like This" which sold 236,000 units. Fantasisa's song sold 142,000 units.
Now from season 2 Clay Aiken was the only Idol runner up to out do the Idol winner. Clay Aiken's "This Is The Night" sold 393,000 units as compared to Rueben Studdard's "Flying Without Wings" which came in at 286,000 units sold.
Mr Hicks is currently makin his album with 19Recordings/Arista which will is currently scheduled for release in the fall.
